We are excited to announce that L. Evans Design Group is featured in Oregon Home Magazine‘s Style section for our work on a Hartung Farms home outside Portland, Oregon. Titled, “A Hartung Farms Traditional Gets a Breezy Makeover,” the article highlights our work on Tina and Jay’s kitchen, master bathroom and powder room.

A Bright and Open Kitchen

For the kitchen, we focused on bringing a crisp, clean and airy feel with white cabinets, lighter granite and modern, whimsical cabinet pulls. We also removed walls to make the space flow more freely into the family gathering space and the formal dining room. Working with Tina and Jay’s budget, we used the existing boxes of the cabinets and had all new doors and drawer heads made to better suit the new aesthetic of the room.

A Spa-Like Master Bath

For the master bathroom, we chose to start over with the space in order to make it open and more spa-like. The lighting scheme was extremely important in the overall ambiance of the space: we added dimmable toe-kick lighting, which added a touch of drama and romance to the room. The tile floor is heated, which is a special treat in the fall and winter months. Dark wood, lighter counters, and a large, open double vanity all complete the space.

A Dramatic Powder Room

A truly dramatic change, the powder room presented challenges in its small size. To create more space and add a striking feature, we worked with a company that uses photos to make wallpaper. Choosing an image of a beach in Thailand, we added a floating sink, floating cabinet and a lighter gray shade for the walls to help create a larger feel for the powder room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time working on this gorgeous home, and we are elated our work is featured in a local publication. Tina and Jay had a clear vision for their home; we helped them work through the details, developing a realistic plan around their budget.
